FC Barcelona reacted to Lionel Messi’s sentence to 21 months in prison for tax fraud. « The Club, in agreement with the criteria expressed by the Government prosecution service, considers the player to be free of criminal liability, » Barcelona says.
A Barcelona court has found Barcelona forward Lionel Messi and his father guilty of three counts of tax fraud and has sentenced them to 21 months in prison although under Spanish law a jail sentence under two years for a first-time non-violent crime can be served on probation, meaning they are unlikely to be imprisoned.
