Liverpool may be about to land one of the greatest athletes in the history of sports - and he's never even played professional soccer.
Taking to Facebook on Tuesday, the recently-crowned NBA Champion and NBA Finals MVP appeared to offer his services as a free agent to Liverpool - a club he has long supported and even owns a minority interest stake in - when they come to visit the US on a pre-season tour:
"s/o to Coach (Jurgen) Klopp & the Reds. Excited to hear you boys are heading out to the West Coast!! If you need a walk on, I got your back #YNWA #LFC" - LeBron wrote.
Having found out that King James might consider joining Liverpool FC, defender Dejan Lovren - who currently wears the No. 6 for the Reds - took to Instagram and stated he would be more than happy to give up his jersey number to the three-time NBA Champion since "he is the king."
"If Lebron wants the number I don't mind, he is the king" - Lovren wrote.
The four-time NBA MVP acquired a stake in the club from Fenway Sports Group when the global marketer gained full control of his rights in 2011. Since then he has appeared at Anfield on occasion and even helped campaign for midfielder Jordan Henderson to appear on the cover of FIFA 16.
