As you may know, before joining La Masia in 2001, Lionel Messi started his career in Argentina.
Newell's vice president Cristian D'Amico is confident of luring Messi back to Argentina after the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
"I am convinced, like many of my peers, that we can make history as a club if we get the best player in the world in a Newell's shirt," he said.
"I think we're going to get the pleasure of Messi wearing the shirt.
"Imagine a game with Messi in the Coloso, with the press around the world.
"The sponsors who would come... that would make a difference economically, apart from the sentimental value, and could make a big difference to clean up the debts."

Speaking in 2013, Messi said: "I don't know how long it will take but I will return to Newell's.
"I want to play Argentine football because I know what it means to my country.
"The truth is that I don't know what will happen tomorrow. I do not know how long I could play but it's what I want."
